Onion River Six Vermont Poets
Paperback
Daniel Lusk
The Vermont given us by these six talented poets is definitely not the Vermont of Robert Frost. Their lives are the life of the new Vermont--the spirit of a place now as much cosmopolitan and contradictory as rural and traditional. I love the freshness of the voices gathered here. The poets want to surprise themselves and us. And so they are by turns grave, sexy, smart-mouthed and bumptious, vulnerably tender, bittersweet, fierce, and even praiseful. It may not be Frost’s Vermont, but the poetry in Onion River does what he said poetry must do--“begin in delight and end in wisdom.” Grateful thanks to all involved in bringing this book to us, and especially the poets themselves.

Kissing the Ground: New & Selected Poems
Paperback
Daniel Lusk
Evocative and haunting, Daniel Lusk’s poems have their spiritual origins in myth and human lore, and their emotional roots in prayer regret. They suggest a world in which imagination leads to something false but eternal, and brute nature stands for something true but lost.
