Janis Reams Hudson, Romance novelist Janis Reams Hudson worked for fifteen years in local television in the Oklahoma City and Corpus Christi markets. After writing for seven years, during which time she left television and completed seven novels, Hudson made her first sale in September, 1990. The tile was Foster Love, which sold to Meteor Publishing for their Kismet line of short contemporary romances. Shortly after the book's publication in February, 1991, Foster Love won several major book awards, including the prestigious National Readers' Choice Award for Best Short Contemporary Romance of 1991, Best Kismet of the Year from Romantic Times, Colorado Romance Writers Award of Excellence for Best Short Contemporary of the Year, and was a finalist for Best First Book in the Romance Writers of America's annual RITA competition. In 2000, her 28th and 29th books, The Price of Honor and A Child on the Way, will be released by Silhouette Special Edition, with more titles from Silhouette and Zebra Books scheduled for 2001 and beyond. Hudson's books have appeared on the romance best-seller lists of Waldenbooks, B. Dalton, and Bookrak, have been nominated for numerous awards, and have earned a total of six major book awards.
