Diana M. Amadeo, a Des Moines native, is a freelance writer currently residing in New Hampshire. Amadeo is a busy wife, mother, nurse, and writer. Over the past ten years, Ms. Amadeo has published in excess of 175 articles, features, and stories in periodicals as diverse as The American Journal of Nursing, Parents and Teenagers, The Boston Globe, Highlights for Children, Boy's Life, Lady's Circle, The American Journal of Hospice and Palliative Care, as well as many local and national publications. In May of 1989, her first hardcover book was published (There's a Little Bit of Me in Jamey, by Albert Whitman and Company) which received fine reviews from School Library Journal, Booklist, SLJ, and the University of Chicago Bulletin. This book was also on the American Cancer Society's suggested reading list. Ms. Amadeo has also served as Editor of the largest weekly newspaper in New Hampshire.

The Scarlet Tanager is the story of a young female trauma room physician who practices medicine in a New Hampshire White Mountain resort community.
